ECO is currently working with the The Pew Campaign on Human Health and Industrial Farming (HHIF) to
protect human health by eliminating the misuse of antibiotics and
related drugs in food animals.
This
is an incredibly important health issue, especially for Arkansans. The
overuse of antibiotics in food animals increases antibiotic resistant
bacteria (creating "superbugs" that antibiotics cannot treat). The
multitude of large chicken, pig, and cow production facilities in
Arkansas are exposing a large percentage of the population to these
unnecessary antibiotics, increasing our chance of getting an
untreatable infection.
For more information on this issue, please see Pew's website on Human Health and Industrial Farming.
